Location

Caleta de Vélez is on the eastern side of the Costa del Sol, in the area known as Axarquia. Malaga airport, train and bus station are easily accessible, and connect you with the rest of Spain, Europe and beyond. It is 3km from the larger town of Torre del Mar, which you can walk to along the Paseo Maritimo (promenade).

Health

Caleta de Vélez has doctor’s surgeries, both public and private, along with pharmacies including 24-hour.
The hospital is on the border of Caleta and Torre del Mar, only a couple of kilometres from the centre of Caleta town.
There are also several dentists.

Shopping

Caleta de Vélez has a variety of shops including popular supermarkets such as Aldi. 
The El Ingenio commercial centre is only 4 kilometres away and has the High Street brands under one roof along with smaller boutique shops and a large supermarket stocking international foods.
Street markets remain popular in southern Spain, and the one at Caleta is very popular with several local fruit and vegetable producers, spice merchants and clothes stalls selling their wares. The street market runs on a Saturday morning in Caleta de Vélez.

Public Transport

Caleta de Velez is connected to Malaga, Nerja and Vélez-Málaga via the bus network run by Alsa.
There are bus stops along the main road. From Torre del Mar, you can catch direct buses to Malaga, from where you can catch the train or ongoing buses across Spain.

Sports Facilities

The majority of the sports facilities can be found in neighbouring Torre del Mar, which has a wide range of public and private sports facilities. There you can find tennis, pádel, football and basketball courts for hire from the town hall. 
Free fitness machines can be found on Calet’as beach front. 
The Baviera Golf Club sits at the top of the town.

Annual Events

Caleta de Vélez hosts the usual Easter, Christmas and summer feria events which you’ll find in every town and city of Andalucia. 

Neighbouring Torre del Mar has some additional annual events, including Weekend Beach Festival in early July, and an Air Show which is usually held at the beginning of September.
