Cutar is a picturesque traditional white village nestled in the Axarquia region of Andalusia. Cutar is known for its rich history, stunning views, and traditional architecture. The village offers a unique blend of Arabic and Andalusian influences and is home to one of the oldest fountains in Andalusia, which greets you as you enter the village. In 2003 a copy of a 16th century Quran along with two manuscripts from the same era era were found in the walls of a property being renovated by a local builder. In 2022 Cutar created a visitor area to cover the history of the village in the last ten centuries.

The village is very Spanish with a small number of foreign home owners and holiday homes, however the local inhabitants are very welcoming to those foreigners who have made Cutar their home and those that holiday there.

The Monfi Festival is a lively annual event in Cutar, Spain, held in October. It is to remember the Moorish history of the village and features music, dancing, street performances, archery and bird of prey displays, a medieval market, and local cuisine. Monfi was the term used to describe Muslims who stayed in the area after the Catholic conquest. It’s a great way to experience Cutar’s culture and community spirit.
